Berlin - May 2017 - heathland

Hello everyone,

I am still working through photos and i stumbled across this small black tachinid with rather large eyes. Maybe someone can place it in a genus?

Thank you,
John

Hello,

I tried the gallery for similar species. Maybe i viewed it too quickly because Macroprosopa atrata seems similar. I don't like to key Tachinids so i don't really know what it is. I am just wondering if this could be Macroprosopa atrata.

Best wishes,
John

Macroposopa is much bigger.
My guess, stressing guess, would be Dufouria.

Thank you for taking time to reply, Theo. A guess is better than nothing and it is a pretty good guess based upon descriptions. Atleast i have a starting point.

I didn't look at the size of Macroposopa so i didn't know that it is larger. My apologies for being sloppy with this one. I am sluggish today and i have so many photos to organize. it can be brutal looking through photos.

Best wishes,
John
