24.05.19, Southwest Germany, Tübingen, south oriented meadow.
Looks very distinctive to me but I can’t find it in the gallery. Any suggestions?

Thank you John. Obvious as expected. I went through Bombyliidae but did not match it to Bombylella atra.

all is good. it is pretty rough looking because they are active in April in the meadows of Germany and nearby lands (including Netherlands). You may not be able to match it so easily in this condition.

we are here to help each other, so just post instead of searching through the gallery for hours. We are all friends here i think so :)

Sorry, John, the species has not been recorded from the Netherlands yet but is listed as 'to be expected' ('verwacht'on https://www.neder...NCE_STATUS)

really? i'm sorry. I thought it was recorded. well, i'll have to track it down for you and visit you while i'm there.
i've always wanted to visit Netherlands.
I'll have to start reading my van Dale dictionary again.
bedankt! :)
