Some sources on the internet suggest to allow vinegar flies into a brew in home vinegar making. However I cannot find any scientific research on this nor any information if specific Drosophilidae species are involved in this process. I have allowed vinegar flies into my brew many times over (see attached photo) and vinegar making was always successful. The larvae just filter out at the end of the fermentation process. Does anybody have more information on this or lead me into the right direction. This would be much appreciated.
