Dicraeus Loew, 1873 spec, female (Chloropidae), the genus can be identified after the peculiarly long wing vein R2+3. Male genitalia are needed for exact species identification. 71 valid species are known worldwide, as far as known species are all phytophagous and host specific. They develop in the seeds of grasses (caryopses of Poaceae). Some species are extremely abundant during the florescence of their specific host, e.g. D. vagans on Arrhenaterum elatius in Central Europe.
