Nearest I could find in the Gallery is
Hydrophoria linogrisea (
https://diptera.i...to_id=7208) but I'm really not familiar with these.

I'd say this was
Muscina levida (Muscidae)

Ouch! I got the wrong Family.
Still got to say it looks nothing like other images of
Muscina levida (e.g.
https://diptera.i...d_id=85418) to me.

Hello Darwyn, the photo in that linked post contains a male M. levida. Males are very dark blue-grey (blue-gray). Females tend to be much lighter but not always. The bend in the m vein will lead you to Muscidae and particularly Muscina. Also note the rust-colored tip of the scutellum.

I got this one wrong - it's
Phaonia valida. (No presutural acrostichals, and bend in M not as marked as in
M. levida)
