Egersund, Southwestern Norway, June 16.
To me this looks like a perfect match for Chlorops pumilionis, but it would be nice to get the view on this from some experts.
Thanks.

I think that Chlorops is correct but i'm not convinced that pumilionis is a perfect match. There are alot of Chlorops and only one photo. If i remember correctly, it should key to the pumilionis and ringens area of keys but you will need an opinion from Paul or maybe Dr. von Tschirnhaus will visit this post.

Thanks for commenting.
Now I see and realize that the species I suggested was wrong. I was looking at many species that evening and the name came out wrong. It should have been Chlorops scutellaris.

Header is now corrected. I'm sorry for this mixup.

all is good, noone is perfect and noone should hold it against you. we are all friends here, i think so. i make mistakes too.

i think that Chlorops scutellaris is supposed to have an entirely black scutum, so this should not be C. scutellaris either. the ocellar triangle of C. scutellaris is supposed to have a noticeable acute apex.

do you have other photos or a specimen?

one can only get so far with one photo and conjecture. However, i think that the ocellar triangle has an outline. see my attached photo. I can suggest C. speciosus as a possibility but it may not be correct. Let's hope that Paul can tell us more or maybe von Tschirnhaus notices this post.

I'm sorry but no more photos. In my naivety I thought this colourful fly would be easy.
