Ukraine, Rivne region, on May 19.
In the forest there is geraniums on the flower. Am I sure this is Empis pennipes?

Here in NW Europe I would say yes, but perhaps similar species are present in your area.
E. pennipes is well known for visiting
Geranium robertianum.
