I photographed this Asilidae near the little village of Salbertrand in Susa Valley, Piedmont (Italy) at 1000 mt above sea level, on Auguts 13th, 2017. Could it be a Neomochtherus?

It seems very similar to N. pallipes, it isn't?

It could be, we should be able to see its belly :-) When it is black, it is pallipes
