Is it possible to ID this fly? Near Apeldoorn on 10/04/2019.

Indication of size ?
More like 7 mm or more like 10 mm ?

Certainly not 10mm - definitely smaller.

So, the legs are very yellow, eye is bare and antenna is long.
I am thinking Ocytata pallipes, the variety with full wing venation.

I never knew there were two forms of wing venation - I have another record from 5 days later and a few hundred metres distant. I have a fuller set of photos - this fly also has the same venation.

Thanks, Theo. Much appreciated.

Most specimens lack the apical crossvein, and hence are very easy to identify.

I've only seen the species twice and they were the "easy" form.
