Hello,
is it possible to say more to this gnat? Perhaps a female of Culex pipiens?
I found it on 17.6.2012 near Hermagor, Carnithia, Austria (swamp).

Regards
Ingrid

I think this is Ochlerotatus flavescens

The Oc. flavescens I have seen does not have a clear stripe on the scutum and are even more extensively light scaled on the abdomen. My guess for this mosquito would be Oc. annulipes/riparius.
