Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Milichiidae: Pholeomyia?

Not much to go on with only one photo but I think this is a milichiid in the genus Pholeomyia. Thanks for the help

It most likely is as there is no Nearctic Milichia species (of which this picture reminds me of).

Checking the keys it is most likely Pholeomyia indecora.

Thanks Paul!. Nomina Insecta Nearctica lists one Milichia species, Milichia aethiops, but the Manual of the Nearctic Diptera says that’s a “southwestern” species.
I wish I had a lateral photo but the fly was on the other side of fence. I interpreted the bristles on the sides of the thorax as the ones MND says should be on the posterior anepisternum and that distinguish Pholeomyia from Milichia
