Hi,
is this a male of
B. venosus (or maybe
vulpinus?) I found this specimen on the same date as and in proximity to
this one, where I think it might be a female
B. venosus. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Lorin

Femora black beneath the silverish scales. 7-12mm. -> Bombylius vulpinus ?

The key you are using does not say that this can't be a feature of
B. venosus as well.
But when you go up you will find: "along the hind border of the eye a row of black hairs on the head, contrasting with the yellow hairs". I think they are present here.
Cheers, Lorin
