Hello,

we got pictures of poor quality (sorry!) from a gardener, who found many of these Nematocera in an interior landscape, hydroponic system.
An ID is necessary to identify risks for plants and people.

Northwest Germany, February 2019.

Could anybody help? Thank you!
Thomas

It looks like the keroplatid Cerotelion striatum and if I have specimens (preferably males) I can confirm that for you.

Thank you, Paul,

as we only got these low quality pictures the chance to get a specimen is low. If there is sufficient interest of the gardener and we get a sample, we will contact you again!

best wishes
Thomas

I would say Proceroplatus, a principally tropical genus but occasionally introduced with garden plants.

Chandler and Pijnakker, 2009 (Br. J. Ent. Nat. Hist., 23(2): 81-93) enumerated 3 spp. of Keroplatidae and 2 spp. of Mycetophilidae associated with hothouse plants at nurseries in the Netherlands, among which Lyprauta cambria sp.n. was considered also of Neotropical origin.
