Hello,
I found this fly in Germany, Saxony in a park near a small river in October. Is the fly a Hydrophoria linogrisea or belongs it to another species?

I searched for the two species in the gallery and the forum and found this comment:

I have an old picture from a fly identified as Hylemya vagans which has darker, greyish looking fore femora.
Compared to that one all femora of this fly have a yellowish coloration.
Is it possible to exclude H. vagans?

No, Marion, the characters you mentioned work for males, but not for females.
