Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Norway: Tachinidae -> Clemelis ?

Another Tachinidae, netted 9th June at an inland valley site, famous for its long list of red-listed and relict insect species. 68 degrees N, 290 masl. I was looking on Carcelia lucorum for this one, but an expert is needed! This specimen had a slightly crouched appearance, and I just risked a few/bad photos in the net of the live specimen. I am enclosing one shot of it live, and three shots of it dead, more details possible.

Any help appreciated!,

Cheers Jørn

PS: I do not say thanks after the expert has given her/his word, to show whom have been given the answer, with a quick look on the thread. I am not disgraceful for that reason, quite the opposite, in fact!
PPS: Theo, many thanks for your previous determination(s)!

Definitely not Carcelia, the tibiae are dark.
The gena is narrow, but not as narrow as in Carcelia.
The very broad vertex strongly suggests Drino galii.

Ups, I overlooked the ascending bristles on facial ridge.

So now I am thinking Clemelis.

Did you collect it ?

Many thanks, Theo,
yes, I did collect it, but my collected specimens are in disorder in the freezer. I will have a deep dive this weekend, and let you know. I will be very keen on sending it to you, of course.

Cheers Jørn

Clemelis is pretty rare in northern Europe, so I would like to study the specimen in due time to be dead sure.
