I think this is Tabanidae, but I am not sure. Is it possibel to id this fly?
Photographed in the Elburz mountains, North Iran.

Appears to be Therioplectes carabaghensis according to Theo's 2006 revision.

Paul has just sent the article to me. Based on the article, the individual of the next day is also carabaghensis carabaghensis.

I don't remember seeing or feeling any Tabanus. I don't think I photographed any. Next time....

Yes. Probably the only species around. For other species, visit the Lenkoran forest. at the Azeri and Caspian Sea border.
