Very likely Hybomitra aterrima.

Thanks Theo.

In the gallery, there are only entries under H. auripila. Is its actual status that of a subspecies of H. aterrima or a full species?

Auripila is currently considered as a variety of aterrima.

ok thanks again, so I was wondering, as no aterrima pics are in the gallery, whether this observation can be added, or is the ID not that safe?

To be dead sure, I would like a dorsal view.
