Hi,

I frequently found these flies at the edge of a village pond in Burgenland (Austria).

Especially the broad head with the bulging eyes I find conspicuous.
Is the water's edge their habitat?

Cheers
Lorin

I think these are Lispe females, possibly tentaculata. There is a revision of this group available here: https://zookeys.p...hp?id=2240
