Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Unknown Conopidae from 12.07.18 --> Conops flavipes

Hello,

this 7-8 mm fly visited Eupatorium cannabinum in our courtyard (northwest Germany) this afternoon. Unfortunately I could take only these two photos.

It should be Conops flavipes, I think.

my first guess was Abrachyglossum capitatum (never heard of it before, don't know, how plausible it is). But legs and wing markings seem to be not dark enough...

May be I am misstaken, but I think I can see a long proboscis in these pics, which would leave only Conops as a possible genus.

That's why I excluded Conops at first: I could not find one. I was accustomed to see it instantly in that genus (C. quadrifasciatus is rather abundant here). But you may be right and it is only badly visible on theese two not so good photos. I will store them as Conops flavipes, if nobody disagrees. Thank you!
