Saw a lot of beautiful flies in Surinam.
Am I right in assuming that this is a wasp mimic syrphidae (female)?
They were quite abundant in the north.
In Botopasi (Boven Suriname) I photographed a somewhat similar looking species which I will show in a separate thread.
Location of this one: Republiek (near Zanderij)
Date: March 2018
Thanks in advance for your comment.
David

The wing veins and the spines on the abdomen suggest Tachinidae

You are right.
It probably is a Cordyligaster sp.
Thanks,
