Hi,

I think that the two flies on the bee are Drosophila, does anyone know which species or group the nearest one may be? These were in the South of England.

Thanks

Dave

I think the are Milichiidae.

Probably Desmometopa, commonly found on captured honey bees. Even in North America where honey bees are not native.

Thanks for that John. I had a search around and found some similar looking Desmometopa

These are Desmometopa but species of other genera can possibly be found, too.
