yesterday I found this hooverfly on Inula-Leaves.
Is it
Xanthogramma pedissequum?

Please let us know the locality of your find. This male is resting on Inula, but not associated with the plant... The thorax pattern, however, fits
X. pedissequum! So you are right.

Sorry that I forgot the locality, it is a garden in Southern of Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
