Hi,

can at least the genus be ID'ed? Size of the square is 5x5 mm.
Vienna, in June.

Best regards,
Lorin

Hello Lorin, I just found an Opomyza germinationis at the end of May. I read some comments from Jan Willem and a lateral view is necessary to separate Opomyza germinationis from Opomyza petrei. I think that both of these are possible.

Do you have a lateral/side view?

Hi John,
I don't have lateral view, but I will keep it in mind for the next Opo.
In this case, I am totally happy with the genus

Cheers!

John is right! The most obvious difference between Opomyza germinations and O. petrei is the coloration of the abdomen, which normally requires a lateral view. What can be seen trough the wings does seem to point to O. germinationis, but that is an uncertain identification. So best to make of it is Opomyza cf. germinationis.

just want to say that i am only right becaue of Jan Willem :)
Thank you for posting, Jan. I love to read your comments.

Meantime, i notice that we don't have a male lateral photo in the gallery. Thus, I will add one for future reference.

I hope that everyone has a pleasant day :)
