Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Rhamphomyia from Denmark

Hello

This is causing me problems.

Body length 3-4 mm, 8. V.2018, NEZ, Denmark

In the Hackston key I get to no. 16 (Aclonempis), and the description is rather close to albohirta. But albohirta is not known from Denmark, and I’m not sure its right when comparing images from the internet.

Any suggestions? Including that I somehow went wrong in the key...

Cheers Rasmus

Genitalia look like Empis nuntia but you do not show the wing tips to check for the R4+5 fork.

Sorry, this has already been identified as nuntia by Igor Shamshev. There is no fork, and thats why I thought Rhamphomyia, but according to Igor the R4 vein sometimes are missing, sometimes on one wing, sometimes both.

I have not seen this before, but just another example on the fact that Empids can be very tricky.

cheers, Rasmus
