Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Rhingia rostrata male

Hello
is this Rhingia rostrata? I found it on Silene vulgaris in Kiental (Alpine foothills Switzerland) 03.09.2007
There were many R. campestris and only this one without black at the side.

Yes, I'd agree R rostrata, as there is no dark line along the side of the abdomen and the hind tibia is all orange.

Interestingly, after years of being a rarity in the UK, it is now, quite suddenly, turning up all over the south of the UK.

I read it was rare here, too. And I think I have seen it several times, but couln't make good fotos. If the populations are growing, I should be able to make some pictures next year.
