There were 4 of these flies on an elstar apple. Three were sitting motionless on the apple skin whilst one, which had a larger abdomen than the others, was busily feeding on the flesh exposed in a hole pecked by birds. Images 1 to 3 are of the feeding one. Image 4 is of motionless one with a thinner-abdomen.
Estimate 6-8mm long. In my garden. 5th Nov 2017, Flensburg, N.Germany.
Are they Anthomyiidae? Any guesses as to a Genus? Sex?
