Anybody known, which species this is. I believe it may belong to this family. Found Hedgerow. Southern England. October 2017.

A female Pollenia. The head is not in exact profile but the gena are too small to be rudis. I suspect that this could be Pollenia cf pediculata. You'd have to look at the underside of the wing for a group of pale hairs (often five or six) on the node at the junction of the humeral crossvein and sc vein (Rognes).

adding a photo of the underside of the wing. I submitted a similar photo to the gallery but it wasn't added. Probably because I add a copyright notice. Anyway, the photo in the gallery looks like it has been stored in alcohol. My attachment shows a better view. The female specimen in my photo has been dissected and examined using Rognes for identification of the genitalia.
