Hi
Yesterday, in October 13th, 2017, always on the ivy in the South of France, I saw a dipteran which looks like Eurychaeta muscaria but it seems to me that the wing nervation presents some differences.

Why not Eurychaeta palpalis ?
In this work ; British blowflies (Calliphoridae) and woodlouse flies (Rhinophoridae) (Steven Falk draft key March 2016).pdf pages 18 et 38.
- p. 18 : lower part of parafacialia with some very long and strong bristles => Eurychaeta palpalis
p. 38 : E. muscaria is a central and southern European species with much broader parafacialia that only bear a single strong bristle (3-4 present in E. palpalis).
therefore parafacialia with several strong bristles this should be Eurychaeta palpalis.

I followed the key given by Knut Rognes :
-Parafacialia at narrowest point about as wide as palp at broadest point and half as wide as first flagellomere ; gena in profile, about as wide as first flagellomere. [...]Female : first flagellomer rather broad, 1.8-2 as long as broad ; frons about as wide as an eye when seen from above ................................palpalis.
-Parafacialia at narrowest point about 2-3 wider than palp at broadest point and as wide as first flagellomere ; gena in profile 1.5-2 times higher than width of first flagellomere. [...] Female : first flagellomere narrower than in palpalis, about 2.5 times as long as broad ; frons wider than an eye when seen from above.........muscaria.

I agree with
Eurychaeta muscaria based upon the height of the gena alone. The keys of Dr. Rognes are 100% accurate. Nice work, Stephane :)
