The species is probably difficult to determine but maybe ...
In South of France the 09 October 2017 on Ivy
Around 9 - 10 mm

Yes. For Cylindromyia identifications, we need superquality razorsharp pictures, or awfully much luck !
Neither applies here... alas.

well, in many genera these pictures would have been good enough, but not in Cylindromyia, alas.
