Well, the species has been called Trichopoda pennipes in Europe, but nobody ever checked whether this really in pennipes. There are several sibling species in the neotropics. So I am happy to accept Trichopoda pennipes as provisional identification, but the statement that this is the only species in Europe lacks support: it is the only species recorded.
