Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Dasyhelea => pupae

Hello !

Center of France, august 11th 2017, in a bucket with earth and water.
Continuing the process of that thread is it possible to tell more than Dasyhelea species ? Size 3 mm
Hoping to catch an imago.

well, it does look like Dasyhelea, for the anal segment is spiny. However, this pupa is unlike many other Dasyhelea I have seen. In most specimens i have seen the thoracic horn is much longer and the anal segment looks different. I cannot tell you which species but it is worthwhile to get the adult stage and keep them together with the pupal skin and get an ID for the adult. I would be interested to hear the results.
