I spotted this fly on a leaf in Mindo , Ecuador ,it was about 15mm in length ,with a blue thorax and blue and red abdomen .I think it is a Tachinid , but I would like to know if anyone can give me any clues as to species .Thankyou

Possibly
Archytas.
The larger species in subfamily Tachininae tend to have projecting chin and pedicel nearly as long as first flagellomere.

Thankyou John , that looks like a very good call ,Archytas metallic us is very similar .
