Dear Forum,

Can anybody help with this fly, maybe an Oestridae or something related? It has a really weird, sable-like ovipositor. I found it on a flower, where my first guess was a tachinid.

Location: Germany, Baden-Württemberg, Zollernalbkreis, Burladingen, near Naehrberg, semidry heath land
Altitude: 850 m
Date 30th July 2017

Thank you for your help and kind regards
Dirk

Hi Theo,

Thank you for your help. A female of Phasia hemiptera fits very well. I did not expect these flies to have such an massive ovipositor.

All the best
Dirk
