found in Germany, Bergkamen, altitude 100m, 16. 5. 2017

Looks like australis or acrolophi. Males only IDable by DNA barcoding.

How can I see, that this is probably not Chaetorellia jaceae ?

Can we expect Ch. australis in the Netherlands ?

I ask, because Berkamen is not to far away from the Netherlands.

To pick up this thread: Based on the distribution o food plants this should be C. jaceae.

Strongly depends on the host plant
Centaurea cyanus = australis
Centaurea stoebe, maculosa and synonyms = acrolophi
Centaurea nigra, jacea = jaceae

thanks a lot for your answer to identify this Tephritidae.

We have a look to other fotos we take this day/hour in our external hard disk drive,
but we cannot identify the host plant,
so the name couldn't get clother as before.
