Hello,
hundreds of these small (5 mm) flies were torturing me yesterday nearly everywhere in and at the forest (northwest Germany).
Hydrotaea?

Yes, a typical behaviour of sweat sucking Hydrotaea in forests !

Musca autumnalis.
