Hello,
If it's Ephydridae, then maybe Scatophila. Size 2.5 mm. Color of the mud.

Not Ephydridae - this is Sphaeroceridae, Limosininae. :)

Perhaps this is Pseudocollinella septentrionalis.

As your specimen has four pairs of marginal setae on the scutellum, I don't think it can be Opacifrons (=Pseudocollinella). I suspect it is a Leptocera species, but I wouldn't suggest which without the specimen. ;)
