Hi everyone,

this was kinda mysterious... I just wanted to get close to the insect, but it disappeared though I couldn't see any wings. To me it looks like a wingless nematoceran - who can see sth more?

Length: (very) roughly 2 mm.

Probably Sciaridae

Ok...thanks again. Are there any wingless spp. known or was this an accident more likely?

There are several genera in which the females are often wingless (notably Epidapus, but also Trichosia, Parapnyxia and Pnyxia. The abdomen on this specimen looks odd, not like a typical male or female! Some Cecidomyiidae also have wingless females, but your antennae look more like Sciaridae, and I think I can see a tibial spur in one photo.

Ok! Good to know this, thanks for your explanation. I was disappointed I couldn't take some good pictures, but one day I'll find that species again.
