Hi,

I have seen this photo (http://www.dipter...to_id=1927) labeled "T. fenestratus", and this one (http://www.dipter...to_id=1876) IDed by D. Gibbs as T. perspicillaris... Can somebody explain the difference between these two species? :o

Thx!

superficially very similar but perspicillaris has clear (whitish) squamae whereas fenestratus has the squamae infuscated blackish. perspicillaris is a southern species very common in the Mediterranean and not found in GB, fenestratus a more northern (and higher altitude?) species.

Many thanks, David.

In the Iberfauna database, both species are listed as present in Spain, therefore... mmm... I think here is more complicated that in UK....

I still don't know how to distinguish the two species... I have read perspicillaris have two white bands in sternites I-II, but sternites are very difficult to see in a photo! :| I need a very low point of view!! ;)
