Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Spectacular Stratiomyidae from Botswana

A friend in Letsibogo, Botswana, caught these two shots of a moderate-sized member of the Stratiomyidae (I think!) but we both wonder whether anyone could narrow that down a bit.
Two photos. She estimated the size as 10-12 mm.
IDs, discussions or guesses would be welcome.

Odontomyia sp. One of the few metallic species. They need a revision before you can get a species ID... very pretty fly
