Hi everyone,

is this Trichocera saltator, though the first part of R2 is just as long as R2+3? That's a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance.

...or can the ratio of R2's first part and R2+3 be variable? Well, I don't really think so...but that would explain everything...

Hi Lennart,

Yes, this female Trichocera looks like saltator . And yes, the ratio of R2's first part and R2+3 is variable in many species, although some have it rather stable.

If tou follow the British key (Coe et al., 2006), any way you choose you get to T. fuscata (if stalk shorter) or T. saltator (if stalk longer), and the first is a junior synonym of the later.
