Received this specimen from southern Brazil.
Could this be a species of Cylindromyia?

Not Cylindromyia - just look at the shape of those antennae :) To be able to guess more I'd need a better series of photos from more angles. Does it have a long proboscis bent back under the body?

As I have practically none experience with Tachinids I don't know what characters are important to identify them ..

Should be Beskia cornuta, which may be a junior synonym of aelops described from North America.

In the recently published checklist of Tachinidae, only one species of Beskia is recognized: Beskia aelops (Walker, 1849).
