Dear Niels-Jan, you make me very curious: how did you know? I would like to learn the discriminating characters between
L. arnoudi and
L. pictipennis, too! In the thread cited above the only statement for
L. pictipennis is: "genitalia with a broader style, wings generally broader". Where do I see a "style" in the genitalia photo? I learnt that there are dististyli (
http://www.dipter...d_id=21796). Wing shape can be estimated only by comparison, and the pattern of the dark spots is said to be quite variable. So I wonder what character you based yor ID on!
