unfortunately rather windy and these flies being only about 2mm it was hard to get anything in focus:

I think the lower one is the female. Female Ceratopogonids and Chironomids are quite similar though.They are very closely related Simuliidae being the other one in this close triplet of families.

Yet the first segments of the antennae suggests Ceratopogonidae.

Hello,

With the fore legs pointing to the front, don't you think the second picture is a Chironomidae ? The thorax is also very different (hunchbacked).
