A group of flies were dancing a few cm above the water in a stream (Catalonia: La Garrotxa: Beuda: Riera de Rajolins, 11/05/2013). I trapped some of them with a net, so they got wet. Are these male and female of Empididae? Are them specifically of river habitats?

They were 3-5 mm in length

Not far from there, there was another one, that could be the same family. It was about 6-8 mm.

Hilara. Males usually have swollen fore tarsi. Some species swarm low over water.

Many thanks, John, I see there is a lot of species
(so the last one is a female?)
