It has hairy eyes, so then i think it is Hybomitra

Actually Tabanus spp. of quatuornotatus group have hairy eyes too. My doubts was exactly about the pubescense of the eyes;) Shape of the frontal calli and polished subcallus strongly suggests T. quatuornotatus (see here http://www.dipter...to_id=3393).

Seregiy, I think only two possibilities are on the table: (1) Eyes are haired, so T. quatuornotatus (no other species of this group in central Italy has three big black calli and polishes subcallus. (2) Flesh and light are playing any game with us, then eyes naked = T. glaucopis.
So, Justafly, can you enlarge pic of the right eye to see if the eyes are naked or haired.

eyes clearly haired - this is a female of Tabanus quatuornotatus.
> lower callus squared and dull black
> subcallus polished black
> 3 band eyes
> hairy eyes

Yes, I've have enlarged the photo and checked eyes are clearly hairy!
