Hello everyone,

My opinion is this one should be a Bombylius minor, but there is no pict in the gallery : do you agree ?

to me is more bombylius cinerascens, but I don' t know very much about this family, so let the specialist talk.

although this is a lovely picture it does not show critical features adequately, i do not think it is either minor or cinerascens (no black hairs on abdomen or post occular). there are numerous species it could be so i cannot even hazzard a guess.

bombylius major ? is it possible, Gibbs? But we cannot see the dorsal view to check it...

as far as I know, B. major has a lot of black on the wings. but like I said before I don' t know very much about the family.
By the way can anybaody tell me if there is some kind or guide for this family?

Hi Jorge,

As Raluca told it, B. major has remarkable brown patterns on wings, even on "not top views", which helps a lot for ID :
