I found this fly in Szeged, S. Hungary, on 02.06.2012. I think it is a Bombylisoma minimum male. Can somone confirm (or correct) this ID?
Thanks in advance!
Henrik

Because of the characteristic wing venation, I am fairly confident about the genus Bombylisoma. The reasons I think it is B. minimum are the presence of some long, dark hairs on the abdomen and two bunches of golden-yellow hairs right under the eyes. I would appreciate any opinion!

Hi, Henrik

I am not an expert, but as nobody comments, I am going to do it as I am at the moment completely obsessed with Bombyliids ;)

Totally agree with Bombylisoma :) Although I don't know the Bombyliids present in Hungary, I am pretty sure the genus is right |t

About the species, obviosly it isn't any of the ones I recognize for sure (melanocephalum, nigriceps and notatum). It fits with minimum but unfortunately I haven't any experience with the other species and I cannot garantee that the ID is correct :(

But at least you know now that somebody else agrees with your ID, although it cannot be confirmed ;)

Best

Piluca
