S. curvipes is one of the few species which are easy to ID within Sphaeroceridae, yet I would have not ventured to id this, unless I would have seen more on the wing. Sphaerocera has a relatively unique wing venation within Sphaeroceridae.

S. curvipes is one of the commonest early spring species, especially if dung is around.
