Several views (anterior, dorsal and lateral) is the best way to optimize the chances of a positive identifiction. Anthomyiidae and their lookalikes is often hard to identify, if not impossible (at least with todays knowledge it seems). Not all are possible to get to species level, some can be identified to genus and some only to family, For a newbie like myself it's almost impossible to tell which ones is possible to iD and which isn't.
