Hello!

These 3-4 mm Nematocera were rather numerous in our garden (Ostwestfalen/Germany) this night at -1 ?C. I think they are Mycetophilidae, but am not 100% sure regarding Keroplatidae. Can anybody give me a hint? Thanks in advance!

(Nr. 1 and 2 same individual, 3 and 4 others.)

They are Mycetophilidae (probably Mycetophilinae), but the lack of visible characters in the wing (just enought to ascertain they are NOT Keroplatidae) will make any further identification very difficult. On the other hand, if you could collect a few specimens in alcohol... ;)

Hello, Paul!

Thanks a lot! Still only photographing and not collecting... But would it help to try to get some better pics of the wing venation (at least for genus level)?

It can never harm and usually it helps. :)
